Impala Canada is the owner and operator of the Lac des Iles Mine, located 90 minutes northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario.

In operation for 30 years, the LDI Mine is one of only two known pure palladium sources in North America.

Palladium contributes to a cleaner global environment, with its leading use in catalytic converters that reduce harmful emissions from gas-powered and hybrid vehicles.

The LDI Mine features a unique, ore body and modern infrastructure, including underground and surface mining and milling operations.

The LDI Mine is in Robinson-Superior Treaty territory, and the land on which we operate is the traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg and the Métis.

Mill General Foreman (Job ID#


Reporting directly to the Mill Manager, the Mill General Foreman is responsible for the safe coordination and organization of all mill operations, adhering to quality and environmental standards.

As well as provide direct supervision to the mill supervisors.

This position is based at the LDI mine site and will be 7 days on and 7 days off rotation (rotation schedule can be discussed).


Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, direct and control the work of mill employees' activities to align with the business objectives, operation strategy and production goals

Implement and execute daily, weekly and monthly plans in order to achieve desired production targets, minimize downtime and reduce cost

  • Provide direction and leadership to mill supervisors
  • Ensure compliance to safety standards and protocols by mill employees
  • Ensure proper control of tailings pond levels
  • Perform physical operational inspections to ensure work conducted meet required mine standards
  • Recommend measures or changes to improve production, costs, mill equipment performance and to improve mill metallurgical efficiency
  • Assist in metallurgical plant testing and implementation as directed by mill metallurgical department
  • Assist maintenance department to ensure preventative maintenance and equipment availability targets are met.
  • Coordinate all operating and mill maintenance activities within budget
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required and directed by mill manager
  • Ensure sufficient inventory stock for all mill reagents and grinding media
  • Ensure mill operations' employees are trained for safe execution of their duties

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 57 years of supervisory experience in a milling and mining environment
  • Bachelor of Science degree from a university or college would be an asset
  • Works well under pressure
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Expertise in budgeting and ability to present important information
  • Possess superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver's license


The position offers a competitive remuneration package consisting of base salary, health & medical insurance, retirement savings plan and travel allowance.
