The Role of FSQA Technician at Maple Leaf Foods: As a member of the facility's FSQA team, the FSQA Technician spends most of their time on the production floor completing analytical sampling and laboratory analysis, and monitoring Food Safety, GMP, HACCP, and other Quality Assurance Program requirements to ensure consistent adherence. Operating with efficiency, the FSQA Technician is responsible for taking immediate corrective actions and escalating FSQA concerns as needed. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment is crucial.

Snapshot of Daily Responsibilities:
  • Make decisions related to quality and food safety based on established processes to ensure products meet standards
  • Ensure accuracy and availability of product SOPs to plant staff
  • Manage product holds for non-conforming products and assist in determining product disposition
  • Conduct monitoring, verification tasks, audits, and observations outlined in the HACCP/QA program
  • Perform plant audits to ensure effective implementation of GMPs and Plant policies
  • Participate in audits, both internal and external
  • Support compliance tasks, including providing records and information for Compliance Verification System tasks
  • Contribute to product traceability events and provide SAP-based product tracing
  • Offer training and support to employees across all levels of management, aiming to enhance facility FSQA practices
  • Participate in sensory evaluations and other quality-related tasks
  • Assist in data entry, analysis, and sampling activities as required
  • Engage in projects and meetings to enhance food safety and quality
  • Support the implementation of changes to advance FSQA systems and programs
  • Perform any other assigned duties
Qualifications for the Role:
  • University degree or college diploma, preferably in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science or related
  • Self-directed with strong English communication skills
  • Computer proficiency and willingness to learn new software
  • Preferably understanding of Sanitation, SOPs, HACCP, CCP's, and GMP's
  • Attention to detail and commitment to continuous learning
  • Strong interpersonal, organization, and planning skills
  • Flexibility in shift times, including night shifts
