Our expectations:


Under the direction of the Transportation Manager, the Supervisor,Transportation Operations will assist in overseeing all aspects of transportation for the distribution network.

He/she will be responsible for monitoring and facilitating the movement of freight into the Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) and out to the stores.

The incumbent also creates and examines delivery routes (transportation lanes) for cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies.

Your role:

  • Set expectations for team performance (good judgment in grey areas; common sense, customer service as "the face of Lowe's Canada," data entry and transportation documentation accuracy, leadership, initiative, quick decisionmaking, team player, ask questions and reach out to peers in network, driven)
  • Train, mentor, and support Transportation Agents and Transportation team members; create training guides as needed
  • Act as back up to the Transportation Manager
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures (cleanliness and orderliness, trailer integrity, load quality, job safety analysis to identify risks)
  • Assist in hiring employees capable of working in a team and multitasking in a fastpaced environment
  • Cost recognition and containment: Monitor overall freight costs for the RDC and adjust where appropriate; identify transportation savings by researching lane and cost savings; work with operations to maximize cube per trailer to reduce transportation costs
  • Ensure ontime and efficient service to stores (includes follow up action plan for errors made)
  • Ensure inbound loads are being picked up and delivered in timely fashion (includes follow up as needed)
  • Provide ongoing support to the Operations and Planning teams (yard management, trailer moves, and cube utilization efficiencies)
  • Plan delivery and pickup routes using a TMS
  • Able to plan LBM deliveries in TMS
  • Enhance TMS usage by contributing to the improvement of its quality and processes
  • Manage trailer overflow, manage addons and prioritize loading schedule
  • Maintain the delivery schedules in the system

The qualifications we are looking for:

  • College education in Transportation or Supply Chain Management (preferred)
  • Experience in transportation and/or supply chain at the supervisor level
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Proven record for complying with safety requirements and ability to build a culture of safety among subordinates and peers
  • Capacity to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fastpaced environment
  • Selfconfidence and decisionmaking abilities
  • Familiarity with Ministry of Transportation (MTO) regulations
  • Demonstrated flexibility; ability to readily adapt to change and see change as an opportunity
  • Capacity to use analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex problems; creative problemsolving skills; initiative
  • Demonstrated teambuilding skills strong ability to build rapport and trust with others
  • Ability to resolve conflicts quickly and fairly
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with spreadsheets, analysis, and the efficient use of database programs efficiently
  • Understanding of various costing/pricing models
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (an important asset)
  • Good logístical problemsolving skills
  • Knowledge of Canadian geography
