SBM has offices in London and Kitchener, providing engineering services to a variety of private and public sector clients across Southwestern Ontario.

The firm employs over 120 engineers, engineering trainees, technologists, technicians, planners, and administrative personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of fee proposals as required
  • Assist in developing project specific budget worksheets
  • Assist in developing design briefs with project team
  • Manage and identify potential issues with discipline specific project costs, scope, quality, and timelines
  • Ensure important discipline specific project communication is documented and saved
  • Attend external design meetings with stakeholders and creating minutes of meetings
  • Coordination with external and internal project stakeholders
  • Ensure project delivery deliverables and milestones are met
  • Ensure design checklists are being completed
  • Responsible for discipline specific construction support in conjunction with project team.

May include but not limited to:

  • Developing project verification requirements and critical items list with Project Engineer
  • Responsible for reviews and issuing of shop drawings
  • Preparing and coordinating site instructions and change notices
  • Assisting with progress draw reviews and contractor price reviews
  • Assist in verification reviews, occupancy, and final project sign offs in conjunction with Project Engineer and Construction Services team
  • Assist Construction Services with site reviews as required

Skills / Qualifications:

  • College Diploma in a relevant program considered a minimum requirement. Relative job experience will be considered in lieu of
  • 4+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required
  • Experience with Provincial and local Municipality design guidelines, codes, and other applicable Engineering standards
  • Experience in the design of mechanical systems commonly used in multiunit residential buildings is required. Experience in private sector works, specifically working with private sector developers is considered an asset
  • Experience with multiunit residential plumbing and electrical systems is considered an asset
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Autodesk software (CAD & REVIT)
  • Effective team builder with demonstrated abilities to motivate all levels of staff
  • Commitment to ongoing professional and personal growth; willingness to learn
  • Adaptable and flexible to changing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
  • Capable of working on and/or leading several projects at the same time and with the projects in different stages
  • Strong ability to delegate when required
  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff in a team environment
