Comeau's Sea Foods Ltd is seeking casual, full-time, permanent fishermen/women to join our crew aboard our scallop-harvesting freezer factory trawler, the Lady Comeau III.

Rotational shifts:
6 hours on, 6 hours off.

  • 7 days ashore
  • Additional days/hours may be required
The day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Active participation in the Comeau's Safety Program.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, and participate actively in all training opportunities.
  • Operate Automatic Shucking Machines (ASMs) and other scallop processing equipment.
  • Follow directions from the officers on the vessel.
  • Collaborate with crew members to meet production targets, ensuring production operates optimally.
  • Handshucking scallops may be required on occasion.
  • Deck operations may require handling gear, sorting scallops, and other directions from officers.
  • Follow all Quality Control/PCP(preventative control plans) to ensure scallops meet QC standards.
  • Carry out daily cleaning duties, and ensure your station and vessel are kept up to QC and company standards.
  • Assist in the organization of cold storage/ freezing area, as required
  • Pretrip preparations and loading of grub and gear.
  • Assist in the repairs and maintenance of equipment and gear, as required
  • Other duties as required

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 + year(s) fishing experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset.
  • Physically able to respond in emergencies, lift up to 50lbs, climb ladders, push/pull objects, perform repetitive tasks, etc.)

_You must possess (be willing/able to obtain) the following certifications:_

  • Seafarer's Medical
  • Marine BASIC First Aid
  • WHMIS/GHS
  • Commercial Fishing License
  • Marine Emergency Duties (MED) DVS or STCW
