JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin School ofMedicine and Public Health (UWSMPH), Division of General InternalMedicine (GIM), a leader in Internal Medicine research, teaching, andservice, is seeking an Internal Medicine physician who is a trainedhealth researcher to provide research leadership within the division.

The person hired in this position will also conduct research in InternalMedicine in a collaborative environment with opportunities forinter-disciplinary research across multiple UWSMPH departments andinstitutes, as well as the broader University of Wisconsin campus.

Responsibilities:

The Chief of Research forGIM will have responsibilities that include 80% FTE in research,mentoring junior faculty and administration and 20% FTE in clinical careand clinical teaching.

The preferred candidate will have an establishedrecord of independent extramural funding, high-impact publications, anda strong national/international reputation.

Their research program willbe in areas of high relevance for general internal medicine, including,but not limited to, implementation science, health services research orhealth equity research.

In addition to maintaining their own researchprojects, the preferred candidate will be able to recruit and mentordiverse physician and non-physician GIM research faculty, provide annualreviews and support promotion and tenure activities.

The preferredcandidate will also support the development of research collaborationswith existing GIM, Department of Medicine and other faculty at theUWSMPH.

This candidate will also be expected to provide clinical patientcare at approved UW Health locations.

The successful applicant willparticipate in administrative and committee work to support the clinicaland scholarly missions of UWSMPH and UW Health.

An essential part ofthese duties will be working in a collegial relationship with otherfaculty members and UWSMPH leadership.
