Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Health Services Manager at St. Boniface Hospital, the Registered Nurse (RN) delivers professional nursing services to patients with diverse health needs. This includes independent nursing care, administering medical treatments, leading the healthcare team, and coordinating patient care and discharge.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Candidates must enroll in the Manitoba Nephrology Nursing Course.
  • Completion of a pre-study program and an associated exam is mandatory.
  • Job continuation depends on successful program completion.

The Nephrology Nursing Course is a rigorous nine-week training program followed by 1008 hours of work in dialysis. Tuition fees apply, but reimbursement is possible.

Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • CRNM registration is a must.
  • Active involvement in professional associations like the Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) is preferred.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bilingualism is essential (English/French).
  • Must adhere to the scope of practice outlined in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).

Candidates must have a proficient level of French to engage in detailed conversations with patients and families. Language abilities will be assessed, details can be obtained from the Human Resources Department.

A three-week orientation to the Peritoneal Unit is mandatory for standby duties.

If no candidates meet the requirements, consideration may be given to those who do not meet all criteria.

Physical Requirements

Please note the varying start and end times for day and evening shifts on this unit:

  • Day shifts: 0730 - 1545
  • Evening shifts: 1130 - 2345
  • On-call shifts are also expected.
