Responsibilities:

  • Provides individual psychosocial and family system assessment, treatment recommendations, referral and discharge planning for children and adolescents in response to the unique and complex needs of this population;
Actively involved in family education initiatives aimed at enhancing coping and reducing distress for patient and families;
Works effectively with members of the multidisciplinary team in establishing and monitoring processes, improving continuity of care for patients, and enhancing collaborative relationships with other care providers;
Provide clinical interventions through individual, group and family treatment modalities;
Lead skill based groups;
Participates in service committees and quality improvement initiatives as required;
Engages in professional development and continuing education;
Assists with program development and evaluation as required; Participates in team building, service development and improvement activities striving to contribute to a healthy workplace environment;

Other information:

  • Master of Social Work degree with registration in good standing with OCSWSSW;
  • Clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with mental health disorders, preferably within a hospital based service setting;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practice guidelines pertaining to the assessment and treatment of child and adolescent disorders;
Demonstrated advanced skill in mental health assessment and treatment interventions;

  • Demonstrated advanced skill in crisis management and containment;
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Grand River Hospital Mental Health & Addiction Program comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety;
  • Proven ability to work effectively with other health care providers and community service and school board providers;
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and problemsolving abilities;
  • Proven to have strong interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills; positive attitude;
  • Good attendance record.
