Reporting to the Infrastructure Operations Manager and under the direction of the MI Supervisor, the MI General Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining compactor units, Skid-steers, performing shop maintenance and supporting the infrastructure business.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate compactors and skidsteers competently and perform all required maintenance.
- Assist with getting crews ready to mobilize.
- Support the progression of Labourers through handson training and development.
- Understand and assist with running water lines, bulk operation, chaining down the equipment for transport and location clean up.
- Keep the shop and yard clean, including floors, washrooms, coffee rooms and wash bay.
- Put parts and tools away in identified storage locations.
- Assist with cleaning, maintaining, spotting and working on equipment.
- Perform laundry duties and ensure cleaned items are put away in their designated areas.
- Extract soil samples accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in training and development activities.
- Other related duties as required.
- Class 5 driver's license (not on the graduated license program) with a clean driver's abstract.
- Physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods.
- Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time and in all types of weather conditions.
- Willing to travel for assignments, for up to two weeks at a time. Accommodations will be provided.
- Willing to support other business lines in the off season.
- Able to work long hours on a 5 days on 2 days off schedule.
- Able to work overtime and travel.
- Legally eligible to work in the country the role is based out of.
- Worked in a similar environment (shop sites, remote locations).
- Interest in getting Class 1 driver's license.
- Familiar with operating and maintaining equipment.
- Desire to learn.
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, reliable, and dependable.
- Flexible and able to adapt to change.
- Understands the importance of safety.
- Team player and customer service focused.
- Demonstrated initiative and results orientated.
- Previous experience in the infrastructure or oil and gas industry.
- Possesses safety tickets.
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to perform maintenance on trucks.
