About the Position:


The Warehouse Assistant (W2) will support the warehouse functions within the lab, along with the daily production needs and requirements, under the direct direction of the Preparation Supervisor or Branch Manager.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Capable of ringing, sieving and crushing;
  • Perform layout, verify shipment notices;
  • Scan receiving weight, screening, load and unload ovens;
  • Perform basic mechanical maintenance as required;
  • Perform Daily QC Checks
  • Assist in the training of sample preparation staff and report their performance to the Shift Supervisor;
  • Basic building and repairs of inhouse tables, stations and preparation floor needs
  • Prepare packaging for outgoing shipments of pulp samples and rejects;
  • Sorting, locating and retrieving sample pulp and rejects from the warehouse facility using forklift;
  • Accurate data entry and inventory control of sample rejects, pulps, scan pallets and bins;
  • Assist with inventory control, pulp and reject storage, disposal and return to clients in a timely manner;
  • Ensure sample records and supplies are complete and accurate;
  • Primary driver for local deliveries and pickups;
  • Maintains vehicle inspection logs under mínimal supervision, requests yearly servicing, safety checks, tire change overs and keeps vehicle cleaned both inside and out.
  • General shipping, receiving and supplies warehousing functions as needed;
  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately and thoroughly;
  • Ability to work within a fastpaced, high volume environment;
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal and ability to read English;
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years work experience in a commercial minerals laboratory or minerals sample preparation required;
  • Valid Provincial Class 5 driver's license with clean driving history (abstract required);
  • Forklift license and experience operating a forklift an asset (on site certification will be required);
  • Warehouse and Shipping & Receiving experience.
Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;
  • Extensive walking or movement, bending, kneeling, and working with machines
  • Comfortable in environments with high noise levels;
  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
  • Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc;
  • Ability to stand for a full shift;
  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
  • Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.
