Summary:


The Finance team is seen as a trusted partner and business advisor and plays a key role in supporting the business strategy and overall operations.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and driven Assistant Financial Controller to join our Finance team to enhance Xtract One's Financial Reporting & Compliance function as we continue to scale our business.


The Assistant Financial Controller, with the support of the Controller, is responsible for maintaining and improving the overall accounting operations of the company and overseeing a team of accountants.

This includes the production of periodic internal and external financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and assisting in creating and managing processes and controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and comply with the International Financial Reporting Standards.

Secondary to the above noted responsibilities, the Assistant Financial Controller will play an integral role in supporting strategic decision making, with an eye on adding value throughout the business.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daytoday operations of the financial reporting function to produce financial information for management and external reporting purposes.
  • Lead and mentor a team of highly qualified offshore finance professionals to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Advise on nonroutine accounting issues and implementation of new accounting standards to comply with IFRS.
  • Prepare and review accounting records, board materials, and other deliverables, in the preparation of the quarterly financial statements.
  • Assist with the development and enhancement of effective internal controls and related documentation, to ensure compliance and appropriate risk management.
  • Proactively review and improve processes to ensure timely monthly close, accuracy of accounting entries, and general operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the external audit process working alongside the Controller and CFO.
  • Initiate, lead, and drive internal and/or crossfunctional projects across the business.
  • Liaise between external tax consultants, the CRA, and other tax authorize to ensure continuous compliance.
  • Support other adhoc strategic or crossfunctional initiatives along with functional VPs and Directors (tax planning, goto market strategies, capital planning and financing, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting/Finance, or related education and work experience
  • CPA designation is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' post university related experience in an accounting environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work in collaboration with various team members and departments.
  • Honesty and integrity; doesn't cut corners and does what is right.
  • A passion for working in a fast growing, dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills; effective writing skills; ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple and easytounderstand way, particularly to those unfamiliar with financial concepts.
