As anLicensed Automotive Technician, a typical day might include the following:
- Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repair to shop specifications
- Review damage reports, prepare and review repair cost estimates and plan work to be performed.
- Diagnoses and effects repairs of transmissions, clutches, front/rear axles, differentials, brake systems, drive lines, etc.
- Diagnoses cause of malfunction, utilizing all available resources
- Repair or replace mechanical units or components
- Maintain records of maintenance performed, parts and supplies used
- Perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with dealership and/or factory standards
- Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a nontechnical manner to service advisors and customers
- Coach and instruct apprentices
- Follow warranty policies and procedures on all warranty work
- Inspect repaired vehicles for proper completion of work, dimensional accuracy, and overall appearance of paint job
- Inspect and test used vehicles and record findings so that necessary repairs can be made
- Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing technology

- A valid G class license with a clean drivers abstract
