Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL), Community Services, is seeking an Anatomic/Cytology Pathologist for a full-time opportunity to be located at our Base Lab location in Edmonton, Alberta. This position will join a group of general and anatomical pathologists, medical microbiologists and clinical chemists providing community laboratory services. The successful candidate is required to have excellent skills in both surgical pathology and cytology.

Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alberta Health Services (AHS). APL is the sole provider of lab services in the province of Alberta. APL's focus is on patients first - ensuring the safety, accessibility and stability of lab services across Alberta. We are supported by expert consultation to assist care providers and users of the service. The depth and breadth of medical expertise results in a premium level of testing quality, service, follow up care, and support to our customers and their patients.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Anatomic/Cytology Pathologist must maintain the highest possible standards of practice including prompt delivery of services to match established key performance indicators and provincial metrics, must actively participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

• Effective communication, skills in quality assurance and operational efficiency
• Ability to work in a dynamic changing environment
• Ability to balance service and quality imperative in a resource-sensitive environment
• Ability to work collaboratively and being an overall team player

QualificationsCandidates must have or be eligible to acquire their Canadian Fellowship in Anatomic or General Pathology and must qualify for licensure in Alberta. Cytopathology fellowship and/or experience in cytopathology is a requirement. The ability to contribute collegially to the group practice and laboratory operations will be an important factor in candidate selection. The successful incumbent will also be required to obtain the appropriate professional liability coverage.

Compensation

An excellent remuneration package including relocation assistance is provided. The pathologist will function as a contractor with APL. Starting remuneration is commensurate with the level of training and experience. Remuneration range for a Laboratory Physician / Pathologist in Alberta is $353,874.00 to $411,
