The Opportunity
This position provides 1-on-1 for a participant with complex needs within an after-school program setting.

The position creates a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment for a participant to be able to be apart of the program, through the 1-on-1 support they will provide.

This position strongly adheres to Licensing Regulations under the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and YMCA policies and procedures.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing 1on1 inprogram support
  • Develop and implement Routine Based on the needs of the participant
  • Be the liaison for effective and efficient communication between parents/guardians and program staff/manager
  • Responsible for fostering positive selfesteem in the participant and following the YMCA Policy regarding child guidance techniques as based on the Playing to Learn Curriculum
  • Adherence to YMCA Child Protection Policies and Protection, YMCA's Code of Conduct. Responsible for the care of specific groups of children as required based on operational needs
  • Responsible for assisting in toileting/personal care as needed by participant
  • Responsible for aid in physical support as needed by participant
  • Allow for adequate set up time before programs begin responsible for physical setup and proper storage and cleanup of equipment and materials used in direct program delivery for participant. Is responsible to keep a tidy work area/environment free of clutter at all times
  • Responsible for keeping accurate and organized records and ensuring all documents pertaining to these items are passed in promptly to manager
  • Responsible for ensuring participant is engaged in the program.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Early Childhood Education Diploma or equivalent
  • Trained in toileting/personal care
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs and move quickly when required
  • Experience working in an afterschool program and/or schoolage environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and coworkers
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail, including maintaining a clean and clutter free environment
  • Knowledge of basic to intermediate computer skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to treat/navigate sensitive topics or communications with tact
  • Valid First Aid and CPR (C) or Emergency First Aid certificate
