Position Overview:

The In Vivo Research Assistant is a key member of Virogin's Pharmacology and Toxicology team, ensuring the oncolytic virus product pipeline animal testing is conducted with the highest standard of care, ensuring accurate experimental results. The In Vivo Research Assistant will be split 50/50 between wet-lab work and administrative/paperwork. This role also requires working on the weekend and public holidays (will be compensated for extra hours worked).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide daily care and maintenance of animals, including feeding, watering, and monitoring animal health:

  • Perform calculations and dilution procedures for dosing the test and control articles.
  • Administer medications and treatments and assist with animalrelated procedures as needed.
  • Create and maintain records of animals and associated experimental results in electronic and physical databases.
  • Collaborate with consulting Veterinarian on protocols and participate in the generation, review, and amendments of protocols.
  • Collect samples and perform ex vivo and in vitro laboratory experiments in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  • Assist in drafting quality control documents including, but not limited to, Standard Operating Procedures, Study Protocols, Study Reports, Quality Control forms and associated documents.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

-
BSc or MSc in Pharmacology, toxicology, Pharmacy, Immunology, Life Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline

  • Applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of prior work experience with rodents in a laboratory environment and must also hold a relevant training certificate or credential to handle rodents
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct daytoday work with a high level of independence
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively exchange accurate information.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple demands and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Detailoriented; produces highquality and accurate work.
  • Proficient with MS Office and MS Excel.
  • Able to work in a demanding, fast paced, teamoriented environment, while maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
