Lyft's TBS Engineering Team in Montreal

Lyft's Transit, Bikes & Scooters (TBS) engineering team in Montreal is growing rapidly, and we are looking for engineering managers to help us scale. Our engineers are smart, flexible, and capable of solving difficult challenges.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage, mentor and lead a technical team as well as work on personal and technical development of its team members
  2. Structure and staff the team, aiming to provide growth opportunities to team members and achieve business goals in parallel
  3. Guide the team to deliver high-quality products and solutions by following best practices
  4. Instill a spirit of continuous improvement in the team's code, architecture, and processes
  5. Work with your engineers and dependent stakeholders to maintain a prioritized backlog and create short-term and long-term goals
  6. Own your team's deliverables and ensure shipment of scalable, highly available products that delight our passengers and drivers
  7. Provide continuous feedback, address underperformance, and recognize the individual strengths and contributions of your team members
  8. Build teams that are collaborative, inclusive, and respectful of each other
  9. Work closely with the Lyft recruiting team to hire high potential candidates from diverse backgrounds
  10. Think ahead and build for the future

Experience:

  • You are fluent in English and French, written and spoken
  • 7+ years technical experience in infrastructure technologies and can contribute to planning and design discussions and drive technical decisions
  • 3+ years experience managing a team, guiding them through their career development
  • Familiarity with Platform Engineering (ideal), Site Reliability Engineering (required), Devops (required)
  • Solid experience in one of the major cloud providers: AWS (ideal), GCP, Azure
  • Experience supporting environments subject to compliance/security/privacy requirements (PCI, SOC2, ISO27001) a plus
  • Experience guiding teams through major technology and organizational transformations, a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively in various forms, technical documents, discussions, presentations

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.
