Our growing company is looking for a motivated Controls Engineer-Field to be part of the company's technical team. This role is best suited for an individual with a mechanical, electrical, or controls engineering background and previous experience in controls. Preference will be given to candidates with mechanical, electrical, or electronics engineering credentials. The suitable candidate will have proven HVAC design knowledge and networking background and is looking to learn and grow.
Reporting to the technical engineering manager, the Controls Engineer-Field works closely with other technical team members, engineers, and electrical installation members and performs control systems start-up, commissioning, programming, configuration, operational verification, implementation of graphical interface design, as well as preparation of start-up reports, commissioning reports, job status reports, and As Built packages. The Controls Engineer provides regular updates to Technical Engineering Manager and is in continuous communication with Project Management team regarding job status and progress.
Position Responsibilities Include:
- Work in team with other technical field engineers, electrical installation team members on assigned projects during construction.
- Participate in safety orientation at job sites and work with other project trades throughout the project life cycle.
- Performs control system start-up, verification, and programming to meet intended sequence of operation.
- Performs DDC graphical system design
- Provide construction team with necessary support
- Provide project management with feedback on issues expected and any timeline updates and delays expected.
- Work with other team members in the troubleshooting process.
- Ensures that all projects are done accurately as per intended specification, and deviations are reported to project management team.
- Participate in training programs to improve skills and advance in workplace.
Required qualifications & competencies:
- Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electronics or Computer Engineering, Technologist Diploma or Master of Engineering in related field
- Understanding of the HVAC system
- Interest in HVAC or related fields
- Interested in gaining experience in construction industry
- Eager to learn and improve skills
- Self-motivated, driven, detailed oriented and well organized.
