DOG DAYCARE ATTENDANT

Job Summary
The Ruff House is seeking a part time Dog Daycare and Facility Attendant. Knowledge of positive dog training and understanding of dog body language, is critical for this position. You will bring positive energy, a great work ethic, a love for dogs to our growing team.

You are someone who has experience working with a group of dogs and has a good understanding of dog behavior and dog safety.


You will gain experience in a multi-faceted role with dog daycare and canine supervision, retail responsibilities and opportunity to learn about canine enrichment and nutrition.

We have an awesome and fun perk we haven't mentioned yet; have you ever wondered what dog training is like? You will have the opportunity to take part in puppy training classes and potentially join our junior trainer program

The Ruff House's mission is to provide a fun, safe environment for our doggy clientele.

Preference will be given to individuals with professional experience as a dog walker, previous work within a dog daycare, experience as a dog trainer or in the SPCA or related shelter programs.

Therefore, all staff members must be calm under pressure and have a strong sense of confidence when dealing with multiple dogs and issuing corrections when necessary.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 1 year experience as a dog walker, dog trainer, dog daycare attendant or other pet industry role is required
  • Retail experience in a dog focused pet store is an added bonus
  • Basic understanding of dog behavior and positive techniques to communicate with dogs
  • Have a calm, assertive and positive demeanor with the dogs
  • Strong understanding of positive reinforcement versus correction techniques
  • Have a basic understanding of pack behavior in dogs
  • Passion for working with dogs of all sizes and temperaments
  • Have a fun, positive and professional personality
  • Customer driven and focused on fun client experiences
  • Can work in a team or individually (selfmotivated)
  • Have good organizational skills and pays attention to details
  • Strong desire for cleanliness and safety for both people and dogs
  • Be responsible, honest and reliable

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Monitor and control safe & active play in the dog daycare
  • Learn dog behavior/proper intervention techniques
  • Take dogs outside year round (summer and winter) for bathroom breaks
  • Be on their feet for a majority of the shift
  • Pickup and cleanup after dogs
  • Have basic computer skills and knowledge of programs such as; Outlook and Word
  • Feed and administer medication to dogs (as appropriate)
  • Keep accurate logs and records of dog behavior and activities
  • Tidy, clean, vacuum, mop, and disinfect facility

WORKING HOURS
MUST be able to work weekends

The duration of the shifts will range from 4-8 hours. Must be available for 3-5 shifts per week.

Our daycare are is a custom area of over 3200 sq feet where owners can watch their dog's play online
