ABOUT THE POSITION


Working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources, the Contract Geologist is responsible for supporting geological and geophysical programs in a safe and efficient manner.

Duties will include core logging, underground/exploration drilling, geochemical and metallurgical sampling, geotechnical logging, reporting and other duties as assigned. The Contract Geologist will report work completed to the Supervisor or designate. We are seeking one (1) individual for a temporary 1.5-month opportunity with possibility of extension, beginning mid-March.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Supervisor, or designate, duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Logging and sampling of core, date entry from core logging;
  • Collection and interpretation of geological data from exploration and underground programs, including diamond drilling, field mapping, surface sampling, and relogging;
  • Occasional core cutting and preparation of sample shipments as required;
  • Working both in a team and independently to maintain a highly organized core shack;
  • Reporting on work completed to Supervisor;
  • Support geological and geophysical programs in a safe and efficient manner;
  • Participate in daily toolbox meetings to promote compliance to Sabina's safety policies and procedures; and
  • Ensure work area is free of any hazards (ex. tripping hazards).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) to five (5) years' experience drill core logging and drill contractor management;
  • Experience in Orogenic/ Banded Iron Formation (BIF) gold is considered an asset;
  • Familiarity with MX deposit considered an asset;
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or related discipline (required);
  • Prior experience in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources considered an asset.
  • Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., walk and stand for long periods of time and perform physical labour; and
  • WHIMS Certification and/or Level 1 First Aid considered an asset.
