Strive Living Society (Strive) is seeking caring and enthusiastic individuals to join our progressive non-profit organization as
Support Worker in our Supported Independent Living (SIL) program.


The Supported Independent Living Program (SIL) is an individualized program that supports participants to achieve their identified personal goals with one-to-one assistance.
SIL supports adults with various abilities both in their homes and local community. SIL workers are able to follow rehabilitation intensive programs, to ensure the individual is working towards maximum independence.


Some of the tailored supports SIL provides fall under these broad categories: skill development, community Integration: social, recreation and leisure programs, outreach and more.


Strive is a non-profit registered charity providing residential and community inclusion supports to children, youth, adults, and older adults throughout the lower mainland since 1988.

  • Some benefits have eligibility requirements of surpassing three (3) months and securing a regular position of 20hrs/week or more. The benefits and criteria may change from time to time at the discretion of Strive.


The position entails working in a community setting (one to one) with individuals who are diagnosed with developmental delays, ADHD, FASD as well as Autism, OCD and challenging behaviors.


The ideal applicant shall possess:

  • Familiar with living an active life style
  • Experience working with people who are non verbal
  • Comfortable with providing personal care
  • Ability to encourage, motivate and involve client in community activities.
  • Professional boundaries
  • Access to computer and internet
  • Proven ability to develop rapport with individuals in a variety of contexts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with their families, educational personnel, social workers and resource workers, service providers and partners
  • Able to selfstart, make judgment calls, and create new models/programs as needed
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Provide feedback to case management team and Program Manager
  • Ability to practice sound judgment

Job qualifications include (if you do not have all of these, but demonstrate you are a good fit for the position, Strive may be able assist you to acquire some of these requirements):

Class 5 and Class 4 BC Driver's License required and clean driver's abstract

Personal vehicle for work and car insurance with third-party liability of $2 million:

  • Minimum of 1year of experience (or combination of education and experience)
  • Positive Behaviour Management Training
  • Criminal Record Clearance, Ministry of Justice.
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • MANDT Training will be offered in house
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • 2 professional references
  • University degree or college diploma in a social science program and/or subsequent experience.

Competitive compensation starting at $24.25 Plus benefits upon meeting eligibility requirements.
