Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills play a crucial role in achieving success in this position. The ideal candidate should be able to collaborate effectively with a diverse team to support mental health and addiction patients, as well as assist in planning and executing recreational and leisure activities.

Description:

  • As a Recreation Aide, you will work both independently and as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team to ensure the smooth delivery of rehabilitation services. Your responsibilities may include administrative tasks like ordering supplies, scheduling clients, monitoring attendance, managing equipment inventory, and maintaining the treatment area. Working under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will help implement routine interventions, encourage healthy living practices, promote self-care independence, and motivate clients to actively engage in therapy programs.
  • You may also be involved in assisting clients with lifts, transfers, positioning, as well as basic daily living activities within the therapy program framework.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12.

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of Health Care Aide or Mental Health Aide Certificate or equivalent. Possession of a current BCLS-HCP Level C-Health Care Provider certification. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with the public, patients, and colleagues. Minimum of one year of experience in a mental health care setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference for a valid Class 4 Driver License. Training in Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) is a plus. Proficiency in various recreational activities would be beneficial.
