Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada's outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

This position is based in Inuvik; Canada's largest community north of the Arctic Circle.

Education:

  • Graduated with a degree from a recognized university or provide details on how you have an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Degree equivalency

Experience:

  • Experience in managing projects, people and/or finances;
  • Experience in the fields of education, tourism, resource conservation, asset management and/or communications;
  • Experience in working with and/or participating in boards, working groups, or other types of diverse multiparty decision making groups;
  • Experience living in or extensively working with one or more remote and/or Indigenous communities? Provide detail on where and for how long.

Information on language requirements

Knowledge:

  • General knowledge of cooperative management principles and practices of protected areas;
  • General knowledge of Western Arctic Field Unit's parks and sites surrounding the communities located in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region.

Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in a manner appropriate to an identified target audience;
  • Ability to build relationships and represent the organization in a variety of forums;
  • Ability to respond appropriately to interorganizational and/or interpersonal conflict;
  • Ability to manage various types of projects relevant to remote northern communities and cooperatively managed protected areas.
