Temporary Full-Time, Pharmacist approximately until Dec 31, 2024

OVERNIGHT SHIFTS FOR RETAIL PHARMACY

JOB SUMMARY:

This position will be based at the new retail pharmacy in GRH's Emergency Department located on the second floor of Grand River Hospital's KW Campus.

The Pharmacist occupying this role plays an integral role in completing the circle of care at the Emergency Department (ED).

There are various additional responsibilities that go beyond the traditional role of a Pharmacist in a retail pharmacy.

The most prominent would be:

• Working closely with the clinical staff at the ED to ensure that discharge prescriptions are filled prior to the patient leaving GRH
• Providing MAP on an as needed basis for patients attending the ED
• Ensuring that all relevant documentation is completed on the patient profile on the dispensing software to ensure a high level of patient care.
• A very collaborative working environment with our clinical teams in the ED to support a high level of patient care
• Timeous communication with prescribers for any urgent issues
• Maintain a detailed record of patient files on an ongoing basis
• Directly process and fill each prescription to ensure correctness of all aspects of the prescription prior to the medication leaving the pharmacy

Be willing to be trained on all the associated functions that will be required at the
EDRP: opening and closing the pharmacy, managing the POS (point of sale) process and day end procedure, managing inventory and preparing a suggested drug order for inventory replenishment

The Emergency Department Retail Pharmacy (EDRP) is owned by Grand River Hospital.

The position offers a unique professional opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary health care team in the provision of pharmaceutical care to our patients.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Bachelor degree in Pharmacy or PharmD

Minor Ailments Prescribing trained

Proven experience of working independently in a retail pharmacy environment in Ontario, Canada

QUALIFICATION PREFERRED:

• The Pharmacist must have a current license with the Ontario College of Pharmacists, Part A of the Register with no history of disciplinary action on record
