The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship is accountable for integrated land and natural resource management, including objective setting for land and marine environments, effectively managing cumulative effects, and advancing reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, environmental sustainability, and economic growth.


This Land and Resource Coordinator (LRC) position is primarily meant to support land and resource use planning in the West Coast Region, however, the LRC may also facilitate and coordinate other projects to resolve land and resource management and stewardship issues.

A vital role for the division, the LRC bridges environmental, social and economic disciplines of natural resource management to advance Ministry priorities and strategies, and the operational delivery of stewardship outcomes, engaging directly with First Nations, communities and stakeholders to that end.

Job Requirements:

  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a fully licensed professional with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (i.e., Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Engineers and Geoscientists).

Note:

immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the BC association within six (6) months of employment.

Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a natural resource management related field (e.g. Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) or an equivalent combination of education/training, plus two (2) or more years' experience working in a natural resource discipline.
Recent (within the last five (5) years) and related experience in each of the following:

  • managing or coordinating projects in a team of technical and/or professional staff in natural resource management or land use planning in a direct, matrix, or project management environment;
- in a multiple stakeholders/partners environment understanding perspectives, conflicts and facilitating or developing solutions;
- related to First Nations consultation, collaboration and relationship building; and,
- managing relationships with stakeholders/partners and leading consultation sessions, including around contentious issues and conflict situations.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or both the following:

  • Experience with geospatial analysis and data.
