Purpose:


The Project Lead, Service Excellence is both a hands-on and strategic role that provides project leadership for process and service improvement initiatives with York-wide impact.

They work collaboratively as part of a broader team of process and service improvement professionals, able to both lead and support opportunities from ideation to successful implementation as the need arises.

The successful incumbent brings with them a blended skillset that combines project management, process and service improvement, business analysis and change management skillsets to solve complex, ambiguous problems across a variety of functional areas.

Through their work, they champion a culture of service excellence at the University, winning the buy-in of key stakeholders of varying levels of seniority to deliver solutions that benefit the York community as a whole.


Education:

Post-secondary degree in business, information technology, design or related field required.

Education, training or credentials in process and service improvement methodologies like Lean Six Sigma (green belt), human-centred design or service design.

PMP, CAPM or related project management credentials considered an asset.

Experience:


Minimum 3 years of related experience, including familiarity with a university environment and working with stakeholders at various levels of seniority.

Experience project managing and supporting teams on large, complex end-to-end process and service improvement initiatives in various functional areas (e.g., HR, Finance, IT, etc.) from ideation to implementation.


Skills:

Knowledge
Knowledge of best practices related to process and service improvement, project management and change management.
Knowledge of the priorities and business and political trends in higher education.
Knowledge of the impacts and implications of working in a unionized environment

Skills:

Demonstrated strong leadership capability, including ability to lead, influence and motivate others.
Demonstrated collaboration skills to both lead and support work depending on the situation.
Excellent consultative skills, interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across varied stakeholder audiences.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Possesses strong strategic orientation.

Proven ability to work with mínimal guidance, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and take initiative even under unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances.

Comfortable working in a high volume, fast-paced, rapidly changing, results-oriented work environment.
Ability to prototype and test possible solutions with relevant stakeholders.

Must be able to develop and clearly and concisely present priorities and outcomes to multiple levels of management and leadership.

Must be well organized, able to prioritize work, manage time effectively, and follow through on commitments.
Ability to adapt to and deliver solutions within a number of different functional areas (e.g., HR, Finance, IT, etc.).

Compensation:


York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.

Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
