The members of the Inland Group of Companies (IDS, Inland Technologies and Quantem Aviation Services) are highly experienced in aircraft de-icing, environmental management, ground handling and pretty much any other aviation support service you can think of.

We operate at over 50 airports in four countries.

Through our IDS brand we provide aircraft de-icing and anti-icing services at more than 20 stations throughout Canada, the United States and Europe.

Last season alone, we collectively de-iced/anti-iced more than 50,000 aircraft.


We are currently providing an opportunity for a well-rounded, detail oriented and focused professional to join our team in the position of Lead Aircraft Deicer responsible for the safe and efficient operation of equipment utilized for the purpose of tasks related to de-icing aircraft, glycol recovery and glycol processing, while ensuring the well-being of self and all internal and external stakeholders.

Aside from the excitement of working in all weather, the essential duties and responsibilities of this position include:

Proactively foster a learning safety culture by modeling a safe work ethic and promoting the value of open reporting and shared safety responsibility.

Follow all safety policies, standards, and procedures in order to achieve a safe and healthy work environment for all staff, customers, and visitors.

Similarly support Inland's environmental commitments by helping to limit our organization's impact on the ecosystem;
Ensure that Inland is in compliance with all Government Labour, Health and Safety laws, regulations and policies;
Abide by Inland's procedural handbooks, operational plans, and directives of management to ensure that all work is done according to specifications and/or regulations;
Uphold and follow the duties related to traffic management according to procedures for both airlines and Inland/ IDS;
Ensure that Inland's policy of superior service and satisfaction and aircraft and personnel safety are met;
Professionally communicate with aircraft operators (pilots), spraying operators, GRV operators, and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner via two-way radio;
Assist the station management team with the responsibilities of the overall safety and performance of the de-icing operation;
Promptly and accurately complete all associated paperwork as required;
Uphold and follow the duties related to de/anti-icing aircraft according to procedures for both airlines and Inland/IDS (including inspecting aircraft for frozen contamination);
Participate in pre-planning for de/anti-icing events by performing checks on equipment and servicing equipment with fuel or glycol;
Operate equipment within close proximity to airfield personnel, aircraft and other airfield equipment safely and efficiently;
To routinely inspect de-icing surfaces while on shift, and promptly collect spent aircraft de-icing fluid (ADF) well before the risk of fluid escape;

Be alert and aware of other apron traffic, and to only begin de-icing when it can be done safely without interfering with aircraft movement.

AIRCRAFT ALWAYS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY;
Testing of aircraft de-icing fluids as required;
Perform daily Vehicle walk-around inspections utilizing appropriate checklists;
Work cooperatively with all team members and external stakeholders involved in the completion of assigned duties;
Provide daily shift briefings to Aircraft De-icers and report all information about shifts to Management on duty;
Promote the best interest of the company by fostering goodwill and support between Inland/IDS and its customers ensuring that Inland's policy of superior service and satisfaction are met;
Understand and promote the Company's mission statement, values and strategic goals;
Foster a team environment and create a "group culture";
Drive and maintain a high level of efficiency and productivity;
To accomplish any other tasks that may, from time to time, be assigned by management.

Please Note:

This position requires the ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC), Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP) and Radio Operator Certificate-Aeronautical (A-ROC).


Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED;
Minimum 18 years of age;
Valid Manitoba Drivers License;
Vast experience in the field of aircraft and/or operations;
Successful completion of all classroom and on-the-job training;
Flexible schedule;
Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs and the ability to use Inland's independent computer program "Ice Link - Aircraft Ground De-icing Management System";
The ability to use an iPad and/or laptop;
Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills;
Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively;
Ability to work as part of a team;
Ability to maintain a positive and good-natured attitude
