Under the guidance of the Senior Manager, Title & Rights, the GIS Analyst will work with the Title & Rights, Natural Resources, Lands, and Culture and Heritage Departments to provide spatial analysis, mapping, and data management in a coordinated manner for all departments.

In addition, the GIS Analyst will provide spatial analysis support from Williams Lake First initiatives such as the WLFN Stewardship Initiative, WLFN Protected, Conserved Areas Project, Land Use Planning, and regulatory reviews on major projects in the territory.

THE GIS Analyst will join a dynamic team of professionals and primarily support the production of geospatial deliverables associated with archaeological projects, anthropological, and use and occupancy studies.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
# Create high-quality cartographic maps and templates.
# Research, assemble, and summarize data including scanning, georeferencing, and digitized features from paper and mylar maps.
# Establish and maintain online data management standards for spatial data, data collection, and monitoring components for departmental programs.
# Verify and check data to ensure continuity, integrity, and compliance with standards.
# Construct visual material for meetings, proposals, reports, conferences, and presentations.
# Design, develop, document, and implement GIS projects.
# Manage a digital library of geographic maps in various file types.
# Manage projects as directed.
# Keep the Senior Manager, Title & Rights informed of sensitive and important issues and events.
# Creates a safe and healthy environment where facilities are well maintained.
# Supports the mission, vision, and values of Williams Lake First Nation.
# Contributes to the WLFN's ongoing success by accomplishing other duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge
Knowledge of Williams Lake First Nation community, traditions, teachings, culture, protocols, and practices.
Knowledge and understanding of GIS principles and mapping systems.
Familiarity with and commitment to practice effective data management procedures and standards.
Current knowledge and understanding of the latest GIS trends, applications, and data technology.
Knowledge and experience with the provincial and federal administrative, natural resources and infrastructure spatial datasets.
Understanding GIS applications in archaeology and natural resources is an asset.
Demonstrated knowledge of map design principles.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software at an intermediate/advanced level.
Experience with the presentation of map products (reports, atlases, public outreach).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Skills & Abilities

WORKING CONDITIONS
Office environment.
Most services are provided immediately.
To be aware of sensitivity, confidentiality and urgency of requests while balancing other work commitments.

Non-standard hours of work – May be required to accommodate the community needs and that make consists of evenings and weekends.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Records Check
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid BC Driver's License and Driver's Abstract

Must provide a vehicle in good operating condition and appropriate vehicle insurance to meet program requirements OR access to company vehicle is provided and requires a valid Driver's License.
