About this opportunity:

The
Plate Mounter mounts and inspects plates to meet production and customer requirements. This position reports to the General Manager and in his/her absence the Floor Supervisor.

What you will do

  • Checks the docket and schedule to see what is to be mounted and what plates and cylinders/sleeves are to be used.
  • Ensures all orders going to press is on the proper sleeve or cylinder and is in register
  • Retrieve designated print cylinders from storage area.
  • Cut, trim, mount, and proof plates to cylinders as directed
  • Demount used plates and put cylinders back into storage.
  • Cleaning plates by hand or using the plate washing equipment.
  • Records all measurements and backing being used on the Plate Mounting data sheet and places it on the plate package using proper sticker.
  • Record billing of time and materials on each job as required.
  • Prepare and inspect mounted plates prior to releasing to press operator for use.
  • Review orders for week's production, checks plates for scars, wear, or defects before mounting.
  • Adhere to all established quality and safety standards, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
  • Retrieves all necessary supplies.
  • Makes any adjustments at Press to the plates when asked to do so by the Press Operator.
  • Maintains, as all times, good housekeeping, cleanliness around machine and a safe work area keeping floor free of debris and always swept up
  • Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards.

  • Basic math aptitude: must know basic math skills and be able to read a ruler.
  • Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates independent judgment.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Be able to pass color blindness test.
  • Physical demands include standing long periods of time\
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Be familiar with and able to use ruler, gauges, and hand tools.
  • Must be able to physically to lift and/or carry up to fifty pounds
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
