Purpose:


The scope of this position includes employing scientific and technological knowledge with respect to techniques, processes, methods, materials, and ingredients in a food pilot plant.

The role supports the R&D scientist in formulation and development of new products from the concept stage to prototype and full-scale production.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Record, analyze and report laboratory results to the Research Scientist(s)
  • Test new and existing ingredients
  • Operate laboratory and pilot plant manufacturing equipment
  • Conduct analytical testing on samples and finished goods
  • Perform the pilot plant's laboratory testing including organoleptic and instrumentation
  • Conduct sensory analysis of various dairy products
  • Prepare samples and paperwork for external lab testing
  • Maintain laboratory and pilot plant cleanliness
  • Follow quality and safety program
  • Travel up to 20% to various sites
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification:

  • Minimum College diploma in Food Science/Food Technology, Food Analytical Chemistry, Food Microbiology, Food/Chemical Engineering
  • Valid G2 or G license with access to a car daily
  • Must be able to operate in a team setting and able to communicate effectively to various functions and levels
  • Have flexibility to work beyond normal workday hours
  • Ability to lift up to 20 kg's
  • Mechanical aptitude would be an asset
