CARPENTER APPRENTICE FOR ICF FOUNDATIONS WORK


We are looking for a skilled Apprentice Carpenter that is highly interested in concrete as this position's main deliverable is to work primarily in forming for concrete and ICF foundation jobs.

POSITION TYPE:

  • Job Title: Carpenter Apprentice
  • Fulltime and permanent. Up to 8 hours per day and up to 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday. Weekends may be offered and overtime hours may be offered

COMPENSATION:

Hourly Wage:
We will match the Apprenticeship Manitoba wage requirement and Trade Regulation.

The starting wage of this position based on the reference wage of our available trainer for the carpentry apprenticeship can be:

  • Carpentry, Level 1: $ % of reference wage)
  • Carpentry, Level 2: $ % of reference wage)
  • Carpentry, Level 3: $ % of reference wage)
  • Carpentry, Level 4: $ % of reference wage)

Note:
Starting wage at each level is negotiable depending on previous experience.

  • Install Resisto/ Hydro Star for waterproofing
  • ICF Foundation work
  • Place concrete
  • Concrete forming

REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have finished a postsecondary Carpentry program, be registered as Apprentice in Carpentry, or have previous carpentry and especially concrete forming and ICF experience and be looking forward to registering or continuing as Apprentice in Carpentry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in concrete and ICF
  • Fluent English level
  • Permanent resident or citizen: Required for technical training inclass registration with Apprenticeship Manitoba.
  • Be a Manitoba resident, living in the city of Winnipeg or within a reasonable commuting distance to the city as most of our work sites are within the city or in close proximity to the city's perimeter.
  • Must be physically fit, able to lift 50+ pounds and perform all required tasks that involve continuous walking, sitting, standing, climbing, lifting, balancing and handling of tools and materials
  • Must be able to work outdoors during adverse seasonal weather conditions, and uneven terrains and always follow PPE requirements
  • Must have knowledge of site construction safety and procedures
  • Have steeltoed safety boots, safety glasses and a hard hat
  • Be able to provide at least 2 professional/work references. The references can be from past employers, trainers, teachers or instructors that can provide information on your skills and experience

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Use of hand and power tools to build and erect structures using various construction materials
  • Assist in the renovation, construction, and repair of structures made of wood, steel, concrete or other materials
  • Load and unload construction materials and move materials to work areas
  • Assist tradespersons in construction tasks
  • Supervise temporarily the worksite, observing safety and working conditions
  • Removal of construction debris at the construction site as directed
  • Clean and pile salvaged construction materials as indicated
  • Operate tools under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson or after having received adequate orientation
  • Supply and mobilize materials at construction sites as directed.
  • Use of construction software
  • Use of safety software for Health and Safety program compliance
  • Comply with and support the Occupational Health and Safety Program
  • Participate in orientation, training and selfimprovement learning initiatives in the construction field
  • Continuous change of tasks on the construction site
  • Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned.
