Position Summary:

Pulford Community Living Services Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Live in Companion.

Under the direction of the Program Supervisor and within the limits of the approved policies and procedures of Pulford Community Living Services, assist and support with the day-to-day living, housing operations, and programs for the benefit, support, and well-being of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

As a Live in Companion, you must be a committed, consistent, nurturing individual to maintain those supported by Pulford.

What you will do:

  • Assess and meet the attainable needs of individuals through personcentered planning, promoting informed decision making.
  • Encourage and assist adults in household responsibilities, including meal preparation, housekeeping, and maintenance tasks.
  • Supervise, mentor, and guide individuals in daily activities, offering emotional, spiritual, and social support while respecting their privacy and dignity.
  • Be an advocate for justice, inclusion, and full community participation on behalf of vulnerable persons; help the individual(s) understand their rights.
  • Maintain friendly and supportive relationships with each person in the home, while recognizing and responding to concerns of abuse or neglect.
  • Ensure individual's emotional, physical, spiritual, and medical needs are met when required.
  • Review, monitor, and respond to documentation such as personal files, medical information, incident reports, and individual plans.
  • Oversee exterior maintenance duties such as shovelling, weeding, and grass cutting, while promptly reporting any property damage for timely repair, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Ensure a safe and wellmaintained living environment, adhering to fire safety regulations, food handling protocols in alignment with public health standards, Government and organization's policies, procedures, and regulations.

What you will bring:

  • Experience with supporting individual(s) with intellectual disabilities is an asset.
  • A valid Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry check, and Adult Abuse Registry check, all done within the last 3 months.
  • NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) Training Certification is an asset.
  • Demonstrate effective communication strategies, along with strong relationship building skills.
  • Dependable and reliable with the ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Demonstrate effective problemsolving skills.

Salary:
$508
Bi-weekly

Scheduled:
Night shift

Please note this is a Live in companion role where you will be living with four other males. You will be paid a fixed regular sum of $508 bi-weekly.
