Working within a top-tier Canadian bank treasury unit, you will be in a unique position to learn all aspects of how the bank operates and your contributions will directly be used to provide truly valuable insights into managing a large international bank's balance sheet.


As a member of the Treasury Balance Sheet Analytics team, the incumbent will be conceptualizing, developing, and deploying state-of-the art analytical models, high performance simulation systems, and front-end graphical solutions to support new and existing balance sheet management initiatives.

The position is ideal for someone who possesses advanced technical skills and who has prior experience working on a trade floor within an analytics team.

You will be responsible for building and deploying critical daily processes that will be leveraged to deliver reports and analytical tools to the trading team and will directly support the Treasury fixed income portfolio management activities.


We are looking for a passionate and quantitatively skilled individual to join the team who is quick at learning new concepts, is a creative problem solver, and shows a keen interest in developing elegant analytical solutions utilizing a range of software tools.

You should be comfortable with implementing efficient coding practices, creating pragmatic, results-focused analytical solutions with a focus on the end-user experience.

Previous experience building advanced quantitative models utilizing optimization and machine learning techniques, as well as experience in data visualization and Cx/Ux design using latest web technologies would be a definite asset.


The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative team environment, building and enhancing internal relationships with partners in Trading, Technology, and Risk Management.

Develop, test, and deploy production-ready analytical tools, web-based applications, and the technology framework to measure, forecast, and simulate balance sheet structural interest rate risk and liquidity metrics, perform margin and PnL analysis, and develop new portfolio modeling and reporting capabilities.

Work closely with traders and other key stakeholders within Group Treasury, IT, and Risk Management to create new user-focused tools and reports for the market facing trading desk and for senior management.

Be a pro-active team player, who demonstrates leadership skills and accountability, and can efficiently deliver projects according to pre-agreed timelines and within budgetary constraints.

Responsible for maintaining and improving the efficiency and accuracy of automated processes to perform day-to-day P&L calculation within the team's Portfolio Management platform, including the minimization of end-user computing.

Be a champion on the team for creating and maintaining very high standards and control protocols for process efficiency, accuracy and delivering timely analytics to end users, and implementing error-checking/exception reporting to ensure accuracy within the team's analytics.

Supervise, coach, and review work submitted by junior staff.
Provide technical expertise and support technical deployment within the team.

Apply industry/technical knowledge to provide solutions that increase business results and/or minimize risk regarding the integration across multiple systems.

Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to drive agile product version releases and faster user adoption.

Maintain existing and develop new retail and wholesale banking product cash flow models, incorporating consumer behavior trends and business-line specific assumptions and retail forecasts.

Provide timely analysis of balance sheet exposures and what-if scenario testing.
Work closely with market-facing, risk management, and finance teams on the various analytical, reporting and exposure measurement issues.
Write, implement, test, and utilize sophisticated quantitative models for hedging and ALM purposes.
Present to other Treasury colleagues regarding new SIRR analytics and ALM methodology impact testing.
Identify efficiency opportunities by working with business lines in the development of new and/or changes to existing products.

Build strong partnerships and rapports with multiple Finance and infrastructure units to initiate the review, testing, and final implementation of new ALM analytics initiatives across the Bank.

At least one Masters-level degree in Financial Engineering or highly technical disciplines (i.e. engineering, physics, or applied mathematics) with an undergraduate degree in physics, engineering, or computer science.

Minimum 5 years of experience at a top-tier financial institution with direct prior work experience in interest rate products, asset liability management, and structural interest rate risk management.

Strong knowledge of the fixed income space with experience building tools to retrieve and analyze a wide range of market data.

Strong technical knowledge in programming languages and data management software, including MATLAB, Python (Including being familiar with packages like Flask and Pandas/Numpy), SQL, C++, and Visual Basic.

Experience utilizing technologies such as ReactJS, NPM/Node, Flask, and Power BI.
Experience in Cloud Architecture, Production Deployments, Documentation, and SQL, developing highly interactive, user-centric front-end web applications.

Strong SQL skills with knowledge and experience in building ALM systems / processes and working with large data sets.

Solid knowledge of financial and management accounting principles.
Ability to communicate technical and analytical concepts to a broad range of stakeholders.
