The Opportunity


Rocky View Schools (RVS) is seeking an outstanding professional for a continuing, full-time (35 hrs/week) position of Project Coordinator to join our dynamic team.

The Project Coordinator ensures projects are delivered in a timely manner and within the scope of allocated budgets.

The incumbent is an effective communicator who is able to work with diverse groups of team members, contractors, and other external parties as required.

A valid Alberta Motor Vehicle License and access to reliable vehicle as some travel will be required to schools.

Responsibilities:

Serves as RVS representative on construction projects that are contracted to outside vendors, including new school buildings and other projects as assigned

Creates project scope, budget, timelines, and deliverables in collaboration with the Director of Operations, while ensuring adherence by the project team

Collaborates with the procurement team on request for proposal (RFP) process when required, including preparing RFP and performing evaluations

Collaborates directly with Provincial representatives as required for projects, including but not limited to capital projects and modular unit installation; ensuring approvals are in place, working with RVS finance department on budgets, and closure of projects

Represents RVS as required to discuss specifications with architects and other consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers

Communicates plans, actions, risks, and issues effectively both verbally and in writing with RVS staff, contractors, consultants, and other key stakeholders

Collaborates with, and provides support to Supervisors in the operations department

Collaborates and liaises with stakeholders regarding services/initiatives provided by RVS' Operations Department

Collaborates with Operations, procurement, finance, schools, and the insurance adjusters to monitor, control, and report maintenance insurance claims for RVS buildings

Assists in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical, financial, and educational feasibility

Education/Experience

Certificate/Diploma in project management, business, construction management, architectural technologist or a related field

Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset

Minimum 6 years of experience in construction management

Experience with service scheduling and working with internal and external customers

Previous experience within a school division is considered an asset

Knowledge/Skills

Demonstrated ability to deal with a variety of complex and sensitive issues professionally and in a timely manner

Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with mínimal supervision

Proven ability to establish collaborative working relationships with internal and external clients, and operates with high levels of service-oriented performance

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills

Strong attention to detail with a growth mindset
