As NAIT continues to grow its student body andlead the way in hands-on learning, we are recruiting skilled and passionateindividuals to help inspire and train current and future petroleum engineertechnologists and become part of Canada's leading polytechnic.
The PetroleumEngineering Technology program is designed to prepare students for careers inthe energy industry in exploration, production, reservoir and drillingsectors. The Petroleum EngineeringTechnology program has an opening for a temporary full-time instructor.
Thesuccessful candidate will be an energetic and empathetic leader of studentswith a commitment to student motivation and achievement utilizing theiroutstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Experiencedelivering adult education will be a strong asset. A comfort level with variouscomputer programs and systems as well as the ability to work both independentlyand as part of a team will be critical to success. The successful candidatewill have excellent operating field experience who is committed to championstudent success through academic excellence. Responsibilities include curriculum development and delivery, evaluationand maintenance of student progress and records as well as student support andprogram operational activities.
KeyResponsibilities:
Prepare andpresent learning outcomes and activities in classroom and laboratory settings Organizing and supervising practical assignments Facilitate thelearning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficientand effective delivery of course materials Manageinstructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effectivelearning environment Evaluate thelearning process and provide meaningful feedback to students Respond tostudent issues Utilizeappropriate educational technology for presentations, communications, andprogram promotions Maintainprofessional and ethical relationships with students and colleagues Activelyparticipate in the strategies of NAIT's Academic Model as identified by theinstitute Utilize regularstudent feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement Improve thequality of instruction through professional development activities Participate in coursereviews, program reviews and curriculum development Maintain contact withrelevant industriesSkills and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonalskills A strong desire to helpstudents succeed Excellent communicationskills Desire to utilizesimulator-based training aidsQualifications:
A diploma inPetroleum Engineering or related discipline (such as Geoscience or Geophysics)with relevant industry experience is required; degree preferred. Several years ofrelated experience in upstream (exploration and production) petroleum industry(field operations and/or engineering). Knowledge ofindustry-specific computer applications (WellView, geoSCOUT, GeoVista,Simtronics) is desirable. Post-secondary teachingand/or leadership experience is considered an asset.Applicants witheducation credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentialsevaluated by World Education Services or the International QualificationsAssessment Service (IQAS).
