Sterilization Assistant/ Floater

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery office seeking a dedicated and skilled full-time Sterilization Technician to join our esteemed oral surgery practice located in the Hamilton area.
As a Sterilization Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety within our practice.
If you have a keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for maintaining a clean and sterile environment, we invite you to apply.
Your typical day will consist of processing instruments between surgery cases.Other aspects of the position include setting up the surgical rooms prior to surgery and passing surgical instruments during surgery.
Experience is not a main concern as we are willing to train, but teamwork is critical. Applicants should be comfortable watching oral surgeries and seeing blood. Shifts can range from 7:00am to 4:30pm from Monday to Friday depending on the patient schedule.Responsibilities:
- Follow strict sterilization protocols and guidelines to ensure the safe and effective decontamination of all dental instruments and equipment.
- Clean, disinfect, and package instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of sterilization supplies, ordering as needed.
- Maintain accurate sterilization records and documentation.
- Adhere to infection control protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth workflow and efficient instrument processing.
- Assist in other clinical tasks as assigned by the dental professionals.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience as a Sterilization Technician in a dental or medical setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control procedures and sterilization techniques.
- Familiarity with dental instruments and equipment.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to maintaining patient safety and confidentiality.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing workflows and schedules.
