Overview:

The Senior Project Coordinator of Health will support the RED Path project and additional initiatives under the supervision of the Director of Health.

The RED Path Project focuses on increasing awareness of sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis C (HCV), promoting healthy relationships and sexuality, and facilitating access to resources for Indigenous Women, Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Queer, Asexual, Intersex, and other diverse gender identities and sexual orientations (IW2SLGTQAI+) currently incarcerated.

Assist in coordinating and delivering trauma-informed, evidence-based, culturally competent workshops for staff and residents at federal women's institutions across Turtle Island and Inuit Nunangat.


  • Conduct and participate in research on Indigenous health and wellness with an emphasis on gender and culturally relevant gender-based analysis (CRGBA).
  • Provide evidence-based policy advice, analysis, support, and recommendations to various stakeholders on health and wellness.
  • Coordinate the development of holistic health and wellness resources and initiatives relating to the well-being and advancement of Indigenous women and girls, Two-Spirit, and gender diverse people to NWAC's Resiliency Lodge.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, social work, Indigenous studies) or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in program coordination and/or research within a non-profit community organization.
  • Experience working with community-based initiatives or healthcare settings.
  • Participatory and community-based research approaches;
  • Individual, institutional, and systemic issues affecting IW2SLGTQAI+ and communities in Turtle Island and Inuit Nunangat.
  • Proficiency in conducting research and analysis in collaboration with Indigenous peoples, demonstrating respect and cultural sensitivity, and effectively presenting findings in diverse report formats.
  • Capability to formulate recommendations aimed at assisting senior management in their decision-making processes, particularly regarding policy directions, drawing on comprehensive understanding and analysis of relevant data and contexts.
Strong writing and verbal communication skills in both English and French are assets.

  • Ability to carry out culturally-appropriate gender-based analysis (training will be provided).
  • Strong ability to build positive working relationships and rapport with team, community, and stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to navigate or learn various software, including survey software, data-storage software, project management software, Outlook and Teams, etc.
  • Ability to carry out research, analyze data, and advance effective advocacy and communication strategies under the supervision of the Director of Health.
The Senior Project Coordinator of Health must maintain strict confidentiality in performing
The Senior Project Coordinator must also demonstrate:

  • Lived Experience an asset but not required;
  • Time management and punctuality;
  • Understands the importance of quality work;
  • This commitment extends to fostering a clean, safe, and secure workplace environment with flexible support mechanisms. Remote work except for project's essential travel (ample notice will be provided)
  • Overtime may be required at times; (these hours must be pre-approved by the Director of Health)
  • Employees are expected to multi-task with possible interruptions from colleagues, management or other people.
