The Criminal Defence litigation group of Auger Hollingsworth Lawyers is hiring an experienced Criminal Defence Lawyer to have full carriage of criminal defence files from inception through to trial.

This is a low volume, private retainer criminal practice requiring high quality file work-up and defence building.

The Lawyer must have at least 3 years of criminal litigation experience as either defence counsel or crown counsel.

Ideally, the candidate would live in the Ottawa or GTA area. However, for the right "A Player", the candidate can live anywhere in Ontario if willing to travel throughout Ontario when necessary. We have offices in Ottawa and Toronto. We are open to hybrid or remote for the right candidate.

This is an opportunity for an experienced lawyer to focus on the practice of law and not the marketing of legal services or running a business. We provide all clients, systems, support, marketing and processes so that you can focus on top client service and results. You will have professional autonomy but still have the support and collaboration of an established firm and senior counsel as mentors, colleagues and co-counsel.

Required Skillset

-Experience as either lead counsel or co-counsel in conducting criminal

trials to verdict.

-Must have writing samples and/or professional references that you have

exceptional oral and written advocacy skills.

-Able to demonstrate exceptionally high-quality legal documents with

original content and recent jurisprudence including Facta, all pre-trial

Applications, s. 276 and s. 278 Applications, supporting affidavits, Charter

Applications, up to date casebooks, written submissions etc.

-You must have an excellent reputation amongst defence counsel, crown

counsel and the judiciary.

-Enthusiastic and always brings high energy. Willing to work long hours to achieve excellent results.
