Research Development Lead

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sheridan's Generator Support Office (GSO), as we look for a dynamic team player to exercise their passion for grant writing and research project administration to support Sheridan's Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (RIE) ecosystem. Sheridan College is a leader among Canada's top 50 research Colleges.
The Research Development Lead (RDL) is a key point of contact for research teams in Sheridan's Research and Entrepreneurship Centres and five Faculties, from project initiation to closeout, and is a critical contributor to driving growth in applied research funding across the college. The RDL identifies and helps to develop collaborative research projects with external organizations; proactively seeks out new external research funding opportunities; assists research teams across a range of disciplines in developing competitive funding applications; and supports faculty, staff, and industry/community partner research relationships. The RDL also acts as a grant manager for a portfolio of funded research projects to ensure timelines and milestones are achieved and provides guidance to the Research Finance team to manage the administration of project budgets to ensure appropriate, accurate and timely expenditures of research funds. The RDL will understand requirements of external funding bodies, such as NSERC, SSHRC, OCI, Mitacs and CFI and ensure compliance with grant application requirements and funding terms and conditions. The RDL is also responsible for building awareness and capacity for RIE across the College, including development and delivery of education and training materials, and engaging directly with new and experienced researchers to provide support. Finally, the RDL will be required to support colleagues in the GSO who are responsible for metrics reporting and communications that showcase Sheridan's research success.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:
Master's degree in a discipline that has instilled very strong writing and research experience, including Social Sciences/Humanities (preferred), Natural Sciences/Engineering, Health Sciences or Arts 5 years of experience in research grant writing, and managing and tracking the administration of large and small-scale research projects, including milestones, budgeting and reporting (equivalency will be considered) Understanding of research funding sources and an ability to assist researchers in developing competitive funding proposals in a range of disciplines, primarily within the humanities and social sciences but including other disciplines as required Project management professional (PMP) certificate will be considered an asset Understanding of Intellectual Property and commercialization will be considered an assetWho We Are:
