About the Position:

The Corporate Controller plays a key role in advancing Walters Group's growth objectives and solidifying its position as a leader in the industry. This role involves providing effective leadership and ensuring high-quality financial operations within the organization. Responsibilities include financial analysis, preparation of reports, maintaining accounting systems, overseeing payroll, and ensuring compliance through accurate record-keeping.

Main responsibilities:

  • Managing day-to-day receivables activities and processing monthly project billings.
  • Financial analysis, preparation, and maintenance of transfer pricing policies and transactions for the group of companies.
  • Supporting the VP Finance in developing and implementing strategies to drive revenue and profitability growth.
  • Leading and implementing standard operating procedures.
  • Supervising a team of 8, providing coaching, mentorship, and fostering teamwork.
  • Establishing and maintaining policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Preparing financial reports and supporting Operations and Sales teams.

Position Requirements:

  • University degree in accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in corporate financial affairs.
  • CPA (or equivalent) designation.
  • Experience in steel manufacturing/construction industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of project accounting practices.
  • Proficiency in financial and payroll systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and spreadsheet software.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity, positive attitude, and mission-driven approach.
  • Ability to multitask, work collaboratively, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
  • Experience with Great Plains software.
  • Comfortable working with all levels of management.
