Job Description - PSW


Orchard Walk Retirement Residence, a retirement community just south of Ottawa is seeking the services of a full time Personal Support Worker.

Orchard Walk is situated in Greely, just 10 minutes from Hunt Club road.

The home is located on 11 acres and boasts a petting farm, walking paths, a duck pond and beautiful gardens.

The building itself is an indoor living centre with beautiful spaces.

Taking direction from the Director of Care, the PSW is responsible for providing care services in resident rooms. The PSW will also support the Nurse and Director of Care.

As an outgoing and friendly person, you bring a smile to the faces of our residents as you go about your work in their room.

You will also train as a UCP. You are a welcome face and a helping hand.

General Responsibilities


The primary function of the health care aide position is to provide each assigned resident with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the residents' assessment and care plan and as otherwise directed by supervisor.

Health care aides are required to work cooperatively within the department as well as with other departments; respond to call bells, and assist with resident requests.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Valid first aid and CPR cards
  • At least one year of experience working with seniors in health care setting an asset
  • Flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
  • Must enjoy working with the senior population

Physical and Sensory Requirements:
Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies.

Position requires proficient interpersonal and communication skills, moderate reading, writing, grammar skills, visual and auditory skills; the ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, lift, reach and push or pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
