What is a Fabricator?


A Fabricator will operate and monitor a variety of machinery and tools for the purpose of production, additionally perform a variety of duties in various departments including Small Parts and Stores.


What We're Looking For

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect, identify and store all incoming steel material and products.
  • Ensure accurate completion of work orders, requisitions and other documentation.
  • Support custom fabrication and crating of all major projects.
  • Setup and operate equipment such as: burning table, shearer, band saws and cutting torches to prepare raw metal materials for welding fabrication.
  • Interpret specifications or get clarification from engineering/materials manager when necessary.
  • Read blueprints and Bills of Material to accurately measure and cut steel pipe and tube to specifications.
  • Confirming material availability and ordering material as needed.
  • Working with Materials Manager in support of operations.
  • Perform general basic cleaning of plant including emptying trash bins and sweeping floors.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance as required to maintain equipment in top operational order.
  • Perform pneumatic and hydrostatic pressure testing when needed.
  • Assist the shipping department when needed.
  • Utilize small and large tools, hoists, dollies, and other devices when necessary.
  • Effectively perform material handling activities such as picking parts, loading and unloading trucks while using material handling equipment when necessary (such as: lift trucks, tow motors, cranes, high lifts, etc.).
  • Comply with all safety procedures in each area assigned, including but not limited to, wearing protective clothing, special handling of chemicals, special handling of product, safety/rescue equipment usage, etc.
  • Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company.
  • Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
  • Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
  • Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
  • Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
  • Perform all other jobrelated duties as assigned.

Physical and Technical Environment

  • Must regularly lift of move up to 50 pounds, using proper lifting techniques or other available resources such as lifting or moving equipment or help from another employee.
  • Required to wear impact goggles, face shield and hearing protection when using handheld grinders.
  • Ability to travel throughout multifloor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs.
  • Regularly required to walk or stand, bend or twist, climb, reach with hands or arms.
  • Clean and orderly manufacturing environment, some exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards.
  • Overtime required at periodic intervals to respond to project deadlines.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, heat and cold on a regular basis.
  • Exposure to machine and tool hazards requiring care and attention to safety rules and standards.

Required Experience

  • Previous experience reading blueprints and Bills of Material required.
  • At least 3 years of related manufacturing experience required.
  • One year forklift experience required.
  • Experience operating an Overhead Crane is required
  • Previous experience in a shipping and/or receiving department is preferred
  • Previous experience picking parts and operating a burn table preferred.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to handle routine projects and tasks under close supervision.
  • Ability to handle nonroutine, standard projects and tasks.

Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
