We are looking to add a Distribution Protection Inspector III to our team

This position will be primarily focused on the Leak Survey execution program within the Distribution Protection Department.

The successful incumbent will work to anticipate, prevent, manage and mitigate damage to Enbridge assets, in orders to ensure the safety of people, property and the environment.

The DPI assists in ensuring our gas carrying assists are safe and reliable for operation to comply with Regulatory and Corporate requirements.

What You Will Do- Be responsible for the execution of the Leak Survey Program and collaborating closely with the company's Regional Operations teams daily to triage program activities and emergency responses.- Develop and maintain expert knowledge on policies, procedures, codes, standards and legislation.- Provide support for damage prevention investigations which includes performing inaccurate locate reviews, supporting claims dispute and resolution.

Act as local liaison with TSSA, Field Operations employees, Locate Service Providers and Insurance Services with respect to excavation damages and locate issues.- Conduct both field and billing audits on contractors.- Provide field support for contractors, operations, construction, planning & records and external parties as needed.- Determine records errors identified in field and make appropriate corrections.- Assist contractors with inaccessible locations.- Build and maintain positive working relationships between Distribution Protection and Operations.- Monitor performance levels of Leak Survey Contractor, safe and accurate leak surveying methods and follow up with corrective actions.- Provide appropriate and accurate training for contractors and ensure operator qualifications.- Assist with onboarding activities for new contractors.- Coordinate with internal departments where permits/flagging is required.

Who You Are

You will have the following education and experience:

  • Related university degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience OR 6+ years of previous field operations experience. An equivalent combination of formal education and experience may be considered.
  • Damage Prevention Technician certification and/or Pipeline Inspector ticket (GPI) is highly desired.
  • 2 years on-call experience with Damage Prevention or equivalent is an asset.
  • Successful completion of vital main stand-by course.
  • Ability to substantiate effort to support safe excavation practices and procedures (participation at locate rodeo, safety presentations for excavators, participation in dig safe campaign, etc.).
  • Excellent working knowledge of applicable legislation (such as Occupational Health and Safety Act, Bill 8, and the CSA Z Detailed examples of fostered relationships and understanding between other internal and external departments/partners (AR&I, Records, M&R, Other utilities, Municipalities, ORCGA etc.).
  • Experience in providing in-field support to locators, 2nd and 3rd party excavators, and internal departments.
  • Proven experience in delivering internal and external presentations/workshops to communicate technical requirements.
  • Previous locate experience and knowledge of electromagnetic locating theory.
Working Conditions

This role is comprised of a combination of field (80%) and office (20%) work. A valid Ontario G class driver's license and maintenance of a responsible driving record is required.

Responsible for providing on call support for Operations with after-hours damages and incidents.

Travel will be required within Ontario on a regular basis.
