The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Valve Technician jo join our West Country Area operations team based in Rocky Mountain House, AB.
Reporting to the Area Manager, West Country Area, the Valve Technician will repair, install, troubleshoot, and perform other planned maintenance and corrective tasks on a variety of valves / actuators installed at Compressor Stations, Meter Stations and Pipeline systems across the areas Natural Gas Transmission system.
- This position is eligible for Overtime, and the regular work schedule will be:_
Week
- Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; Friday off_
Week
- Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; 8 hours on Friday_
- Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TransCanada's Community, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures as well as accepted risk standards
- Perform inspections related to valve servicing, troubleshooting and repair (equipment such as actuators, valves and related components)
- Perform OneCall activities, line locates, assist with all types of line crossings of TC Energy assets
- Identify and manage encroachment issues
- Perform emergency repairs to meet customer and client needs
- Oversee the safe and efficient completion of projects
- Active control of contractors
- Procure resources and manage within budgets for the facilities
- Provide support to our business partners as required
- Journeyman ticket in a trade or 2 years of technical training from a recognized institution
- 5 years total related experience
- Previous experience with maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of valves/actuators
- Previous experience working with high pressure natural gas
- Previous experience with Schafer and Bettis actuators
- SAP experience
- Successfully complete preemployment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
- Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (estimated up to 50% of work schedule)
- Be part of an oncall rotation and provide emergency support as required
