You will be reporting to the Director of Programs and will be responsible for assisting with a variety of programs and administrative tasks and projects to support the agency's efficient and smooth functioning.

This position will assist the Programs and Office Administrator. Programs Team Leads, and the Senior Leadership Team.


You have some experience working with children and youth and / or adult volunteers and an understanding of social services offered in the Lower Mainland.

You have a willingness to learn, an interest in expanding your knowledge in the non-profit sector, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.


What you will be doing:

  • Working with the Director of Programs on a variety of tasks and projects
  • Working with the Programs Team Lead on a variety of tasks and projects
  • Working with the Programs and Office Administrator to develop knowledge and understanding of our programs database
  • Handling and reviewing confidential documents
  • Organizing and scanning information and secure filling of documents
  • Ensuring our program standards are upheld at all times
  • Assisting with preparing and sending mail and responding to general inquiries
  • Developing relationships with our volunteers, youth and families by shadowing our Mentoring Coordinators
  • Assisting in general agency functioning and performing other duties as requested

What you bring:

  • Looking to enter postsecondary, currently enrolled or a graduate in the social services field
  • Previous experience working with children and youth an asset
  • Highly organized, mature, selfstarter, detail orientated and able to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and work independently
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and databases an asset

This Position


This position can be full-time or part-time, between 9-12 weeks, we are flexible on the number of hours per week.

A Criminal Records Check (including a vulnerable sector search) is required as this is a condition of employment required by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.
