Job Description:

Role Description


Hatch and Bantrel have formed the Hatch Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV) to execute engineering and construction on the BHP Jansen Potash Mine Project in Saskatchewan.

After successfully completing the Definition Phase Study for the project, the HBJV is currently carrying out the Detailed Engineering Phase for the Processing, Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) and Mining Areas of the 4.5 Mtpa Stage 1 Potash Mine.

With a published TIC of US $ Billion this will represent one of the largest projects and private investments in Canada.

The HBJV will use a hybrid of best-in-class new developing technologies and systems as well as the proven HBJV suite of tools to execute this exciting project.


The construction HSE Lead is responsible for the implementation, coordination, and maintenance of the health, safety, and environmental management system (HSEMS).

This position reports to the Construction HSE manager.

The HSE lead supports the Construction HSE manager to ensure the HSEMS implemented for the project is compliant to all applicable provincial occupational health, safety, and environmental legislation.

The incumbent must have the necessary training, knowledge, and related experience in construction execution, and possess the skills necessary to interact with personnel from all levels including construction management, client representatives, subcontractors, and workers.

A working knowledge of construction management philosophy in overseeing contracts is also essential.

Please note this position is not eligible for a relocation subsidy or living out allowance. This will be a camp position on a 14 day on 7 days off rotation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons to all students in the class
  • Teaching according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students
  • Assigning work, correcting, and marking work carried out by students
  • Recording the completion of training in the electronic data base, Bistrainer and archive of paper copies
  • Providing the option for webbased recertifications for predetermined topics
  • Be knowledgeable in provincial workplace regulations, BHP and HBJV policies and procedures
  • Conduct informal workshops on system training when needed
  • Communicate and cooperating with other staff, including those having supervision over an individual of any learning gaps
  • Reviewing and evaluating one's own teaching and learning strategies, methodologies, and programs
  • Advising and cooperating with other instructors and the Training Coordinator in the preparation and development of courses, teaching materials and assessments
  • Perform other HSE Training related duties as assigned by the training coordinator.
  • Punctual for classes daily, in an orderly, organized fashion and leading by example,
  • Be courteous to and approachable by students
  • Follow approved policies and procedures in the conduct of all instructional activities
  • Constantly strive to improve instruction through:
  • Self-analysis and evaluation
  • Observation and study of new instructional techniques
  • The use of technology where applicable to enhance the learning environment
  • Reevaluation and redefinition of instructional objectives
  • Continual revision and updating of course content and materials of instruction
  • Attendance at the team meetings
  • Completion of the FLEX Field leadership assignments

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Saskatchewan Potash Underground Training Experience
  • 10 years Industrial Construction, with 5 years of basic instructional experience
  • 2 years in a Supervisory role
  • Knowledge of the provincial workplace safety and regulations
