About this job


As the Advisor, Security Services you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the OAG's security screening, security in contracting and security awareness and training programs.

Your duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Coordinating the development, implementation, evaluation, enhancement of approved policies, procedures and guidelines regarding security screening, security in contracting and security awareness and training.
  • Leading projects regarding security screening, security in contracting and security awareness. Prepares project plans, objectives, specifications, schedules, reports, funding proposals, and reports to the Manager.
  • Conducting resolution of doubt interviews, opensource checks and briefs the Manager, including the Deputy and/or Chief Security Officer on problematic and/or complex security screening files and recommends solutions to resolve them.
  • Develops and delivers various security awareness presentations or components of the OAG security program throughout the Office, including orientation sessions, 3year mandatory presentations, travel briefings, Team/Group briefings and oneonone coaching sessions.
  • Develops security awareness material such as security bulletins, guides, what's new, officewide communication to keep employees informed of the Office's security program. Leads and coordinates materials and activities for the Annual Security Awareness Week which are generally held in February.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with colleagues across government, participates on a Security Screening, Security in Contracting and Security Awareness Working Groups or Community of Practices with other government departments (OGDs).
  • Supervises one (1) Security Screening Coordinator at the ASG3 level, casual/term employees (as needed) and students (as needed). Assigns work, establishes objectives and work plans, deadlines and priorities, provides training and guidance, evaluates employee performance, completes appraisals, participates in the staff selection process, identifies and recommends formal training and career development plans.
