Position Summary:

This seminar evaluates the current state of democracy in Canada. It utilizes the existing literature on democratic theory to examine the democratic characteristics of Canada's political institutions and processes. Some of the key topics explored include the democratic deficit, electoral reform, citizen assemblies, referendums, judicial activism, parliamentary reform, central governance, e-democracy, civic involvement, voter behavior, campaign finance reform, and citizen politics.
