  • Journeyman Maintenance Electrician
You will work closely with our Maintenance Department teams to use your knowledge and experience as an Electrician.

5 day/40+ hour work week during the winter October to April (paid overtime when required)

4 day/40 hour in summer May to October (Mon-Thursday) 6 months of 3 day weekends

What your work looks like
We seek Journeyman or apprentice electricians with relevant Mountain Resort and Ski Industry experience.

With a consistent focus on safety, the Electrician will also have a history of producing quality work with attention to detail that meets or exceeds industry standards.


  • Install, examine, replace or repair AC/DC Motors and Drives, PLC's, 480 volt power, 120 volt control circuits, transformers, motors, starters, relays and electrical controls.
  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibreoptic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
  • Install, examine, replace or repair generators, alternators and industrial storage batteries.
  • Size and install electrical circuits including panels, wire size and type, conduit, protective devices, switches, and related equipment needed to comply with the CEC and/or CSA Z9
  • Fabricate, install and/or run conduit, 3Phase work, motor terminations, control and instrument troubleshooting and panel work.
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and testing of various electrical systems (including electrical for facility maintenance and operations.)
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keeps maintenance records.
  • Work on systems operating at 240 volts, 480 volts wye, 480 volts delta, 4160 volt switchgear, transformers and motors by following electrical drawings and using test instruments such as a voltmeters, ammeters and PC's, scope and other diagnostic tools.
  • Read and interprets drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
  • Quickly repair electrical failures and replace parts where up time of Ski Lifts can be affected.
  • Comply with standards and procedures of the RCR Policy & Safety Manual and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.

Qualifications

  • 2nd yr Journeyman
years experience as an electrician performing electrical maintenance and installation in a resort environment

  • Possess a high degree of initiative, creativity, communication skills, selfsupervision, and respect for safety requirements.
  • Be a team player and work closely with maintenance, operations, engineering and outside services when needed.
  • Have a flexible work schedule overtime and weekends and schedule changes as required of this position especially during winter season.
  • Be proficient in fundamentals of lockout/tagout.
  • Have a knowledge or ability to interpret the Canadian Electric Code and CSA Z98 code
  • Be able to understand a project request from upper management, lay it out, determine and order materials needed and be responsible for successful completion and startup.
  • Possess the ability to read electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Be experienced in performing preventive maintenance tasks, taking corrective action for repairs, and be knowledgeable in electrical equipment installations.
  • Have experience with AC & DC motors and drives and PLC's
  • Be able to climb ladders, towers and no fear of working at heights with proper PPE
