We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join Argo Lumber, a corporate family member of the Alpa Lumber Group and be a part of the largest Lumber, EWP, CSP, OSB, TRUSS supplier in Ontario.

The Sales Representative is responsible for delivering on targets, ensuring adequate sales activity, and displaying a high level of customer satisfaction. The Sales Representative will drive new business development by building new client relationships and maintain a full opportunity pipeline to ensure that Argo is the preferred supplier of building products with its customers.

Job Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  • Provide superior customer service by promptly responding to inbound inquiries, questions, and information requests
  • Manage complex customer issues while maintaining customer satisfaction
  • Resolve complaints with not only current customers, but also with prospective customers
  • Follow up on all customer complaints within 24 hours

Business Development:

  • Be the first line of contact (phone, visits, site) for customers, by professionally representing Argo Lumber to become the preferred supplier of lumber products
  • Promote the company by sharing customer successes, customer testimonials, and reputation of the company
  • Attend and participate in trade shows, industry functions, supplier events, and other promotional events, to develop strong network of contacts and actively seek out potential opportunities
  • Develop new accounts by actively seeking out new customers (builders & contractors), learning about their business drivers, and promoting products and services
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions with clients within authority level to maximize profit and ongoing potential
  • Grow existing accounts by establishing an ever-increasing partnership relationship, so that all lumber product services are directed to Argo
  • Generate new business by retrieving referrals from customers and promoting the referral program to new customers
  • Remain current on industry trends, market activity and competitor products
  • Updating the Yard, Sales Admin, Estimating and Order Desk of any changes to the design, and the status of upcoming orders
  • Review, finalize and approve all pricing (quotations, contracts, etc.) ensuring adequate margins or escalate if additional approval is required
  • Complete other tasks as required.

  • Able to manage errors as errors may cause significant identifiable losses to Argo. These losses could result in: monetary consequences; adverse relationships within Argo; poor public image, and/or substantial work delays. The errors may have a continuing influence on the future operations and viability of the entire company

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 5-10 years' of sales experience.
  • Experience working in a lumberyard preferred

Acquired Skills

  • Strong customer service skills, trouble shooting capabilities and investigative questioning techniques
  • Able to effectively represent the company and communicate with others at varying levels
  • General knowledge of lumber and building products

Technology

  • Basic software computer skills - Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) / Order Entry Software knowledge


Working Conditions

  • Able and willing to work construction hours (7:00-5:00 weekdays and occasional weekends and statutory holidays) as business needs dictates, in a fast paced environment with continuous change.

Competitive salary is based on experience and includes benefits, vacation and a pension plan.
