    Position Overview:
Calian is looking for an Obstetrician/Gynecologist to fulfill a part-time contract in Ottawa. This non-clinical position is part of a new initiative on Women's Health and Diversity.

Obstetricians/Gynecologists (Ob/Gyn) are experienced physicians employed at the Directorate of Force Health Protection.

They specialize in prevention, diagnosis and management of a broad range of conditions that affect women's general and reproductive health.

Obstetricians/Gynaecologists provide expertise and recommendations by researching and evaluating literature to determine the best available evidence to consider when reviewing and updating existing Women's health policies and standards, and when drafting new policies and standards.

Obstetricians/Gynaecologists provide higher level consultation and advice to the team, to develop and implement Women's Health programs and policy.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and update Canadian Forces Orders related to the practice of Obstetrics/Gynecology;
  • Develop new Canadian Forces Orders related to the practice of Obstetrics/Gynecology in areas that are currently lacking;
  • Review clinical guidelines related to the practice of Obstetrics/Gynecology;
  • Develop new clinical guidelines related to the practice of Obstetrics/Gynecology;
  • Review/update/rewrite the Canadian Forces Women's Health Program;
  • Research and draft educational material related to women's health for patients
  • Research and draft educational material related to women's health for primary care clinicians and other allied health professionals
  • Deliver educational sessions virtually, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience with an adult population. These hours may be as part of the final year of residency or fellowship training if the obstetrician/gynecologist is newly certified.
  • Possess a licence from the provincial or territorial regulatory organization in the province of practice
  • Holds a specialty certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
  • Holds a current Fellowship with the RCPSC or for nonfellows, participation in a continuing medical education (CME) program equivalent to a Maintenance of Competence (MOCPMP) Program

Additional Requirements:

  • Produces written reports and policy on evidencebased Women's health programs, policies, standards and guidelines;
  • Produces written reports and recommendations on Obstetrics/Gynecology strategic plans and direction;
  • Produces written reports and analysis of discipline specific research studies; and
  • Produces written reports for risk communication to assist an administrative decision body, the chain of command or other healthcare professionals.
